Andrew D. Legarreta, MD, began his residency in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in July 2019, after earning his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. His academic journey commenced with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Duke University. During his residency, Dr. Legarreta has concentrated on the integration of artificial intelligence into neurosurgical practices, focusing on the development of segmentation algorithms. He currently leads the Surreality lab as the director of neurosurgical AI. Dr. Legarreta also allocates time for personal interests, which include playing guitar, traveling, and golf. Originally from Buffalo, N.Y., he maintains a balance between his professional obligations and his personal pursuits.
