Dr. David T. Fernandes Cabral is a neurosurgeon and dedicated educator at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he serves as an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery and the Director of Resident Education. Dr. Fernandes joined the Department of Neurological Surgery at UPMC in July 2024 after completing a seven-year residency at the University of Pittsburgh, complemented by an enfolded fellowship in open and endoscopic skull base surgery. A top graduate of the José María Vargas School of Medicine at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Dr. Fernandes demonstrated academic excellence and leadership early in his career. During medical school, he contributed as a teaching assistant in the Departments of Anatomy and Neuroanatomy and gained valuable research experience as an assistant in the Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Fernandes is passionate about advancing medical education and envisions integrating innovative technologies, such as augmented reality, to enhance the learning experience and improve patient outcomes.
