Arka Mallela is a current PGY6 neurosurgery resident and enfolded epilepsy and functional neurosurgery fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery and one of the founding members of the Surreality Lab. He has a strong interest in the intersection of augmented and mixed reality with epilepsy and neuro-oncology surgery, particularly as it relates to intraoperative multimodal visualization of functional and connectomic data. Once he graduates in 2025, he is aiming to become a neurosurgeon-scientist focusing on epilepsy, neuro-oncological, and brain mapping neurosurgery. AR will be a key tool in these efforts. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his family and dog, watch Philadelphia sports (Go Birds), and garden.
