This study aims to quantify and identify key factors influencing the learning curve associated with implementing augmented and mixed reality technology.
Full Description
Within the healthcare setting, extended reality platforms are still a relatively new technology with many surgeons, trainees, and students having limited experience or confidence in their use. This study introduces students with no prior extended reality experience to a series of simple tasks demonstrating the potential use of extended reality platforms within surgical education and patient care, such as 3D cut plane visualization, radiographic imaging projection manipulation, and registered trajectory placement. The study aims to characterize the learning curve for extended reality technology and identify factors that may facilitate smoother or more effective use of these platforms to best inform strategies for better integrating augmented reality tools into healthcare training and patient care.
